NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) at DPGU School of Pharmacy and Research plays a significant role in cultivating a sense of social responsibility, leadership, and community engagement among students. NSS aims to develop students’ personalities through community service, this vision is actively brought to life through a range of initiatives that impact both students and society.

The NSS Unit was formed to create future pharmacists not only in their academic pursuits but also in their holistic development. True to the NSS motto "Not Me, But You," our unit encourages students to rise beyond self-interest and serve the nation selflessly.

Key Objectives
  • To instill a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • To enhance the personality of students through community involvement.
  • To bridge the gap between academic and society.
  • To create leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
Major Activities Conducted:

Our NSS volunteers actively participate a variety of outreach programs such as:

  • Blood Donation Drives: Organized in collaboration with local hospitals to address blood shortages.
  • Health Check-up Camps: Focused on rural populations, particularly elderly and underprivileged communities.
  • Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Drives:Regular cleanliness campaigns in surrounding areas and adopted villages.
  • Tree Plantation Drives: Promoting environmental awareness and sustainability.
  • Awareness Campaigns: On topics like drug abuse, nutrition, COVID-19 precautions, and mental health.
  • Village Adoption Programs:: Rural development through hygiene education, women empowerment workshops, and literacy drives.
Special Camps and Collaborations:

The unit organizes Annual NSS Special Camps in selected rural areas, where volunteers stay for seven days to implement various community development projects. Collaborations with NGOs, primary health centres, and educational institutions enhance the impact and learning experience.

These activities not only serve communities in need but also enrich students with life skills, empathy, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of societal issues. Participation in NSS also boosts student confidence, communication skills, and readiness for future professional roles, especially in healthcare and public service. Students from all years of all the Programs are encouraged to join NSS and become active change-makers. The experience transforms them into socially aware, ethically responsible professionals prepared to contribute meaningfully to national development
