About Institute Innovation Council (IIC)

Institute Innovation Council (IIC) is a project under the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, launched by the Innovation Cell of the Ministry of Education to inculcate the spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup ecosystem in the higher educational institutions. The establishment of the IIC Dnyaan Prasad Global University School of Pharmacy & Research-Dr. D. Y. Patil Unitech Society, Pune is basically a platform to encourage creative problem-solving, innovations based on research, or the conversion of ideas into products/technologies/enterprises.

IIC acts as a strategic platform which involves students, teachers, research personnel, as well as industry stakeholders, through innovation and entrepreneurship activities such as ideation workshops, design thinking sessions, intellectual property awareness programs, startup bootcamp, hackathons, and industry interaction sessions. Through innovation and academics/research integration, IIC ensures a greater contribution to socio-economic development in the country.

In keeping with the national agendas like "Atmanirbhar Bharat" and "Startup India," the IIC remains actively engaged with the area of innovation pipeline right from problem definition and ideation to prototyping, intellectual property safeguard, and final commercialization, and the council makes serious efforts to tap the strengths of incubators, industries, and innovation networks to create sustainable impacts and increase the employability and entrepreneurship capacity of students and faculty members.

Vision of IIC

To form a lively and inclusive innovation ecosystem at the institute capable of encouraging students and faculty members to develop innovative solutions, safeguard intellectual properties, and set up successful startups to serve as a force for national development and competitiveness in the global context.

Mission of IIC

  • For the encouragement of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship culture among students and faculty members.
  • Facilitating ideation, design thinking, and problem-solving by way of innovation programs.
  • To facilitate the creation of prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and market-ready solutions.
  • To facilitate and assist in creating, protecting, and commercializing intellectual property.
  • To enhance the links of industry, incubation, and start-up for sustainable innovation.
  • Alignment of Innovation Institutional Initiative, National Policies, Global Best Practices.

Alignment With National Innovation & Startup Policy (NISP)

The Institute Innovation Council of Dnyaan Prasad Global University School of Pharmacy and Research— Dr. D. Y. Patil Unitech Society, Pimpri, Pune functions as per the guidelines offered by the National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) for Higher Educational Institutions. The Institute Innovation Council strongly supports the NISP initiative and helps to bring innovation and startups into the academic and research framework of the institution.

Areas that need to work well together include:

  • Promotion of startups by students and faculty members via mentorship, incubation, and seed funding.
  • Promotion of intellectual property creation with openness of ownership, revenue sharing, and commercialization opportunities.
  • Promotion of cooperation among industries and technology transfer to make a difference.
  • Capacity building of students and faculty members in innovation management, IPR, and entrepreneurship.
  • Establishment of an ecosystem that protects early stage innovators and startups. IIC, by doing so, takes care that the innovative endeavors by the institution are policy compliant, outcome-focused, and channeled with the national vision to promote innovation-driven economic growth.

India is marching confidently towards Viksit Bharat 2047, and innovation will be the catalyzing force in this journey. The MoE's Innovation Cell at AICTE has enabled institutions like ours to embed research, creativity, and entrepreneurship deeply into our academic culture.

Message from IIC President

In Dnyaan Prasad Global University School of Pharmacy and Research—Dr. D. Y. Patil Unitech Society, Pimpri, Pune, we completely fit into the vision of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and find that IIC in our college will soon embark upon its most vibrant phase ever—marked with increased participation, increased ambitions, and increased reach.

New Additions with New Energy

This time apart from faculty members new initiative has been taken, that is:

  • Forty Nine students have been nominated as innovation ambassadors,
  • Selected non-teaching staff were also nominated to help in developing the innovation ecosystem.

Our student council will help for translating:

  • Student startup registrations,
  • Filling grant applications,
  • More student teams receiving national recognition.

Strengthened RDI Framework

Another initiative taken is integration of our R&D Cell into IIC, together forming RDI (Research, Development & Innovation) under the leadership of Dr. Asha Thomas.

Agenda for the IIC Calendar Year

  • Strengthening research-driven innovation
  • Converting student ideas into prototypes further converted to products leading to startups
  • Initiating Startup and Entrepreneurship programs
  • Enhancing IP awareness and Patent filings
  • Increasing Student internships and industry linkages to startups
  • Demonstrating student innovations on national and global platforms
  • Achieving measurable, outcome-based progress across all IIC parameters

Together, we are not just participating in the innovation movement— we are shaping it, accelerating it, and leading it with purpose and passion.
