The Professional Development Committee in association with Research and development committee organized an expert session on "From Manuscript to Match – AI's Role in Finding the Right Journal" on 08th July 2026. The session was delivered by Dr. Afsar Shaik, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Villa College, Malé, Maldives. During the session, Dr. Shaik provided a comprehensive overview of essential research publication metrics, including Impact Factor, SCImago Journal Rank (SJR), CiteScore, H-index, and i10-index, enabling participants to evaluate the quality and impact of scientific journals. He also discussed the characteristics of predatory journals, the importance of ethical publishing practices, open-access publishing models, and Article Processing Charges (APCs). In addition, he demonstrated the effective use of artificial intelligence-based platforms for identifying suitable journals, improving manuscript preparation, and supporting the publication process.
