DPGU School of Pharmacy and Research organized an expert interaction session on the topic “Research: Building the Curiosity and Mystery” on 11 May 2026 for faculty members, M. Pharm students, PhD research scholars, and members of the R&D Club.
First session was conducted by Dr. Sanjay Madhukar Jachak, Professor and Head, Department of Natural Products, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali. Dr. Jachak shared his valuable insights on the importance of curiosity-driven research, scientific thinking, innovation, and dedication in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.
During the session, he highlighted the significance of developing a strong research mindset and encouraged students and researchers to explore unanswered scientific questions with enthusiasm and perseverance. He particularly focused on the scope and importance of natural product research and explained how natural products continue to play a vital role in drug discovery and development. He also discussed the various regulatory aspects and essential requirements involved in conducting quality research, including standardization, safety evaluation, documentation, ethical practices, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Second session was delivered by Dr. Chandragouda R. Patil, Professor, Department of Pharmacology, R. C. Patel Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Shirpur. He addressed the participants and shared valuable insights into pharmacological research and the importance of dedication, logical thinking, and scientific rigor in academic and research pursuits.
During his session, he narrated ten different real-life experiences and research stories from his professional journey to illustrate the significance of thorough literature review, critical analysis, observation, and evidence-based scientific thinking. Through these examples, he emphasized how careful interpretation of scientific data and a strong foundation in literature can help researchers avoid errors, identify research gaps, and develop innovative solutions. His engaging storytelling approach motivated students and research scholars to cultivate analytical thinking, curiosity, and a disciplined approach toward scientific research.
Both sessions were highly informative, interactive, and inspiring for the students and research scholars. The participants actively engaged in discussions and gained valuable knowledge regarding research methodologies and career opportunities in pharmaceutical sciences.
